Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is the pioneer in teaching Chronological Bible Storying. Current teaching provides a special five-day conference format. At designated times conferences are also offered as seminary courses for academic credit.
CBS teaches the why, what, and how of Bible Storying. Participants learn how to develop customized sets of Bible stories for their particular ministry setting and enjoy a practicum of sharing OT and NT stories as class exercises. They learn to use Bible Storying for evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and leadership training. Participants also receive take away resources in print and electronic form.
Requirements : Non-credit participants will receive essentially the same information as those taking the CBS event for credit, but without the assigned readings, research paper, outside assignments or final exam. All participants will be encouraged to do some preparatory reading and reflecting about their intended listeners, designed to help them get the most out of the conference. (Notes on their listeners’ worldview will be helpful.)
Academic credit participants will have a pre-class assignment to prepare a worldview paper on an intended or potential listener group. In addition, assigned reading will cover background information needed for best utilization of the class teaching and practice afterward. A class written exam and a post-class assignment will contribute to the course grade. A list of course requirements is available upon registration.
